FRENCH EDUCATION IN THE BAY AREA

EFBA is a nonprofit organization promoting bilingualism, specifically by teaching French in the San Francisco Bay Area.

EFBA is a unique French school for children ages from 5 to 14. Since French is a minority language in the Bay Area, we have created several programs aiming to offer sufficient exposure to the language to help children become bilingual effortlessly and willingly. We offer 3 interdependent programs throughout the year.

First, French classes for Francophone children (French native language – FLAM) and Anglophone children (French second language – FLE) at an affordable price in the SF Bay Area.

Our french classes are geared towards students from 5 to 14 years old and take place after school, with a play-based curriculum suitable for extracurricular time after a school day. Secondly, EFBA has created an excellent summer program so that students do not forget what they have learned over the long summer break.

Our summer camps also accommodate beginners. In fact, they are the best way to start learning French through play-based immersion. Thirdly, EFBA offers organized cultural outings throughout the year.

Bilingualism is the best investment you can make for your children in the 21st century! EFBA offers your family 3 interconnected programs to help you achieve your dream of raising future world citizens.

The EFBA French school is made up of after-school French classes, immersion summer camps and cultural outings. These EFBA programs are different in nature but share the same goal: to expose children to the French language and motivate them to learn through play-based methods adapted to their level.

The first program is made up of academic classes, using methods that differ from traditional instruction. The philosophy of these French classes is simple: if a child finds fun and motivation in our lessons, it is easy to teach him or her grammar, spelling and syntax without running into rejection. To facilitate regular attendance, we hold classes in many cities of the Bay Area. These classes take place in places associated with learning, preferably public schools, so that learning the minority or foreign language has the same value as learning subjects such as English or math. All of our partner schools allow children from other schools to participate in our programs; they do not have to be students at the school.

Our summer camp program and our cultural outings use play-based immersion learning. The curricula and activities offered are adapted to different levels of French skills. All of our camp counselors and activity leaders are trained to motivate and interest children, regardless of their level of French comprehension. Thanks to our programs, learning French in the San Francisco Bay Area is fun and easy. Children don’t even realize they’re learning French!
