This year Giving Tuesday is on December 3. We are taking this opportunity to launch a fundraising campaign to fund and develop EFBA educational programs and resources.

RCelebrated on the Tuesday following U.S. Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a movement to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday). Giving Tuesday inspires millions of people across the globe to show up and give back to causes and issues that matter to them.

Technology is everywhere. It is now part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly: learn.

EFBA is launching Efb@ Digital French project. This project aims to bring more technology into EFBA educational programs, by providing complementary online materials to our students and families.

Those materials will take the format of tests, quizzes, games or any other audiovisual content, appropriately addressed to children from 5 to 14 and dedicated to serve our play based pedagogy of teaching French language to kids.

As a pilot project, EFBA is going to open the project to all faculty staff up to a maximum of 10 participants on a first come first served basis.

This project will be running for the first quarter of 2020.

1/ Create and provide teachers, students and families with access to fun educational materials, so that kids can keep practicing outside the school environment

2/ Supplement our part-time teaching model with quality materials for at-home study and extra practice, therefore increasing knowledge retention

3/ Enhance our play based pedagogy with new tools. When children play they learn faster. Providing pedagogical content in a safe space online can enhance their ability to learn faster and create emotional bonds with the language

4/ Teach children to build a healthy relationship with technology and use electronic devices for educational purposes

5/ Promote French language as a mean to unite families and involve parents in what and how kids learn and practice French

6/ Keep high quality standards and meet desirable criteria for WASC accreditation renewal

7/ Develop content to support kids who require reasonable accommodation, such as reduced course of study due to disability, injury or other conditions

8/ Offer professional development opportunities to teachers interested in learning digital tools

Giving Tuesday is the perfect occasion for EFBA to raise funds to launch Efba@ Digital French and bring accessible bilingual multicultural francophone K-12 education and professional development for educators to the next level.

We have created a fundraiser page on Facebook.

Why Facebook? In celebration of #GivingTuesday on December 3, Facebook and PayPal are matching donations made to nonprofits (a total of up to $7 million) on Facebook. Facebook will start matching donations at 5:00am (PST) on Giving Tuesday until the match runs out. So, starting from 5am, the earlier you make a donation, the higher chances will be of having your donation amount matched!

Of course you can donate before the 3rd but your donation won’t be matched (that’s ok!).

Don’t have Facebook? No big deal! You can donate through our donation page here.

Our target is to raise $1,500

Money will be invested in Human Resources, training and equipment needed to:

    • Create academic content
    • Train teachers online on how to adapt academic content and use Google Classroom
    • Provide them support when they encounter issues
    • Communicate on this project to parents

We exist for you and by you. Without the support of individuals like yourself, EFBA would not be sustainable. Thank you in advance for your support!
