2025-2026 IN-PERSON FRENCH AFTERSCHOOL
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
We are excited to announce the launch of our in-person Afterschool program for the 2025-2026 school year! We are offering French classes in 12 locations around the Bay Area: Alameda, Belmont, Berkeley, Menlo Park / Atherton, Marin, Mountain View, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Francisco (Noe Valley), San Francisco (Sunset), San Ramon, Santa Clara and Walnut Creek / Pleasant Hill.
We select our partner schools based on their geographic location & accessibility, standards of quality and safety, and interest in promoting bilingualism. We are proud to have created a strong network of partner schools that count on us to provide French classes at the best prices. We accept children from other schools, so you can enroll your child in any location.
In-person Afterschool sites seem far away? We encourage carpooling and are happy to connect you with other EFBA families in your area!

Our FSL classes are designed to build key language skills for non-native speakers, while promoting an understanding of French culture. Activities including puzzles, dancing, and singing are built into the lesson to ensure retention and engagement.
Classes available for students grades K-5
When:
Our in-person classes meet for 1.5-hour sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays starting September 15, 2025 for a total of 81 hours of instruction (54 lessons in most locations).
Who:
Former EFBA students in the FSL track: FSL 1, FSL 2, FSL 3
New EFBA students with or without previous experience in French – language assessment required!
There will be additional homework and asynchronous activities between classes. To optimize interaction, quality, and safety, the size of each in-person class is limited to ensure a low student-teacher ratio.
Want to try out EFBA’s unique program? With our “Free Week” option, your child can experience our Afterschool program before registering for the 2025-2026 school year. To continue enrollment in the course, registration is required. Please note: Free trial week spaces are limited. Also, completing a free trial week at EFBA does not guarantee your child space in our program.
After online registration and payment, all new students with prior knowledge of French will be assessed before being confirmed at a class level.
EFBA PLAYTIME – K to 5th
Learning is all about having fun in school and the playground, and we want our students to have fun, be engaged, and interact with their friends. Child psychologists have known that movement is proven to soothe anxiety and fight depression, not just in adults: we want your children to remain active and MOVE!
Our Playtime is a collection of additional 60-minute events and activities, such as dance, movement, yoga, games and art projects, and is offered before in-person classes in select locations.
Please note: Playtime is only open to students who are also enrolled in EFBA’s in-person after school French classes. Scroll down to your site to see if Playtime is offered at your EFBA location.
Cost: $600 for the year.

Important Notes:
All new students with a prior knowledge of French will be assessed prior to class assignment – contact us to schedule an assessment. You can book your assessment now to determine your child’s level (Francophone, French as a Second Language).
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, EFBA is able to offer scholarships to six students. If you would also like to support our mission of making French language learning accessible to all students regardless of their background, click here to donate a full or partial scholarship.
Scholarships are available, please contact admissions@efba.us for more information.
All EFBA programs are open to children with learning differences. We ask parents and guardians to register your child in advance – at least 1 month before the Afterschool Program starts – so that our team can provide reasonable accommodations.
There are a few dates during the school year when a host school will close due to school events, parent-teacher conferences, etc. When the host school closure falls on a date that EFBA holds class, classes will be made up at the end of the year. Parents are provided with a calendar at the beginning of the year, and it is updated throughout the school year.
