Beyond the Classroom: Immersive French Through Fascinating Venues
“The students have the opportunity to visit fascinating venues throughout the greater Bay Area. It’s a wonderful way to get kids to interact with a cultural topic, enhance their French vocabulary all while immersed in the language. The colorful and interactive workbooks have a fun scavenger hunt format that the kids really enjoy. There is almost always a good time of outdoor fun and games lead by the staff. The kids get to meet new French students from other communities and interact with French speaking adults who have different accents and backgrounds, which is helpful to their immersion experience.”

Inclusive Learning at EFBA: Tristen's Success Story
“Learning French was Tristen’s decision. After having heard one French song from my CD, he thought its sound was beautiful. So, at this moment, I started my researched on web and found EFBA in January 2013. EFBA was able to provide a special need assistant for Tristen. It makes him to learn as much as he can. For me, it’s reassuring that Tristen is fully covered safely during this class time. Moreover, class time was good, small class and location was close to my home. (…) As a parent, I can say EFBA is a good program because you have knowledge and patient team to educate kids in after-school program.”

Empowering Futures at EFBA
“Being a part of the EFBA family is more than just a job – it’s a deeply rewarding journey of growth, both for our incredible team and the bright young minds we serve. What truly ignites my passion here is the opportunity to nurture potential at every level. From guiding our dedicated team members, to witnessing their confidence blossom and their careers take flight, it’s an absolute privilege.
At EFBA, we cultivate a powerful growth mindset, not only in our students as they embrace the beauty and richness of the French language and culture, but also within our team. We believe in continuous learning, in providing the tools and support for everyone to expand their skills and reach their full potential. The journey of growth at EFBA is truly inspiring.
Witnessing a Counselor in Training return as a confident Camp Counselor, a Volunteer leverage their experience here to achieve their dream career, a dedicated parent embrace a significant role as Site Coordinator, or a junior staff member mature into a capable Manager – these transformations fill me with immense pride. And as EFBA celebrates its 16th anniversary, I look forward with great anticipation to the day we start seeing our former students return to EFBA as teachers.
My contributions extend beyond training; I’m deeply invested in the strategic growth of EFBA. Every milestone we achieve, every new family we welcome into our community, strengthens our foundation and allows us to enrich the lives of even more children. It’s inspiring to see EFBA become increasingly established, a vibrant hub where language, culture, and a love of learning thrive.
For me, EFBA is about more than just education; it’s about building a strong, interconnected community where children and adults alike are empowered to learn, grow, and contribute their unique talents. It’s about fostering a lifelong love of learning and creating a positive impact that resonates throughout and beyond the Bay Area. I am truly honored to be a part of this incredible mission.”

The Power of Language & Identity
“At EFBA, we think that the possibility of preserving the native language contributes to the well-being and psychological balance of the entire family, as well as to building the children’s identities in the context of a happy bilingualism. For those whose family did not emigrate from a French-speaking country, the discovery of another language at the youngest possible age provides a wonderful form of mental gymnastics that allows the creation of new synapses and opens the mind to the world. Most importantly, we must break away from the monolithic perspective to embrace linguistic and cultural diversity, which is another form of biodiversity, and as such, a valuable asset.”
